While COVID-19 grasps the world’s attention, let us remember there are still many malnourished children around the world. They are vulnerable and at higher risk of being adversely affected by COVID-19 due to a weakened immune system, and also from secondary effects such as school and health facility closures, lockdowns and sick caretakers. Rising food insecurity and reduced or ceased access to nutritious food and care can tip children over the edge with more children suffering from malnutrition and fewer children surviving.
