The humanitarian system is ever more stretched, with the highest number of conflicts since World War II, prolonged nature of crises, and effects of climate change. Humanitarian organizations are being asked to provide critical lifesaving assistance as well as to ensure that no one is left behind. System-wide initiatives such as the Independent Review of the IASC response to internal displacement and the ERC Flagship Initiative provide some clues to the changes upcoming in the way humanitarian aid is planned and delivered.
In this context, the Global Cluster Coordination Group (GCCG) is organizing this session to reexamine the role of the cluster approach in a changing humanitarian landscape by:
Taking stock of ongoing system-wide changes
Identifying good examples from the field in terms of partnerships, localization, AAP and collective advocacy from clusters
The session is organized by the Global Cluster Coordination Group, an IASC associated entity. All members of the humanitarian community are welcome to attend the session, including United Nations agencies, cluster coordinators, NGOs, and donors.
This event is part of the wider Humanitarian Network and Partnership Week.
